Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil is an appellation located in the Loire Valley, west of the city of Tours, in the Touraine region.
Its climate is cool continental (short and rainy summer, high continentality, average temperature less than 16.5°C during the vine growing season).
The region is known for its troglodyte caves, underground sites dug to take tuffeau stones and build houses and monuments.
More than 8 million bottles are produced in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation each year.
