What is Bergerac?

Bergerac appellation, near the town of the same name, covers around 3,900 hectares of vines, in the south-west of France. There are around 500 winegrowers.

The region has a moderate maritime climate: the Atlantic, about 150 km away, and the river Dordogne, which crosses the appellation, reduce temperature differences, although the high humidity means there is a greater disease pressure.

On the left bank of the Dordogne, there are clay-limestone soils, while gravelly and sandy soils predominate on the right bank.
